Background of the project

The “Innovation Cluster 2023” project is a building block for Mittweida University of Applied Sciences to provide internationally competitive cutting-edge research. Innovative products and processes are to be developed across disciplines and faculties in various subject areas, thus creating an interface between the university on the one hand and industry and society on the other. The topics are diverse and range from artificial intelligence and climate-friendly production strategies to modern crime prevention.

The project is divided into eleven individual projects:

  • WP1: Visualization of the mission planning of AI-controlled robots
  • WP2: AI-supported automated creation of standardized indoor maps
  • WP3: Integration of kHz and MHz control in a modular fluorescence reader
  • WP4: Climate-friendly manufacturing strategy for steel-plastic composites
  • WP5: Lightweight node elements for micromobility frames
  • WP6: Analysis of the technical and economic feasibility of welding cobots in SMEs
  • WP7: Modern crime fighting needs modern methods
  • WP8: Assembly of the sheep poodle genome and genome-wide association studies on cryptorchidism with the aim of developing a test procedure
  • WP9: Excimer laser structuring using a micromirror array
  • WP10: Establishment of a tool set for multivariate data analysis
  • WP11: Creation of an AI model for the short-term alerting of unusual load events
